The UW Oshkosh women’s tennis team grabbed its second consecutive win of the season by overcoming Lawrence University with a final score of 8-1 Sept. 12.
After dropping their most recent dual against the Vikings 5-4 in Appleton on Sept. 9, 2021, the Titans got back in the win column on Tuesday. UWO now leads Lawrence 27-9 in the all-time series.
The Titans swept all three of the doubles matches starting with Olivia Pethan and Alysa Pattee taking home the No. 1 doubles contest with a set score of 8-2, beating Lawrence’s Anna Vanden Acker and Logan Kane. Following behind in the No. 2 doubles contest with a final score of 8-7, Titans Ella Nguyen and Courtney Carpenter fought to the end and defeated Chloe Lamb and Claire Bildsten. In the No. 3 doubles match, Jameson Gregory and Kayla Gibbs moved to 5-1 on the season, sweeping Lizzy Angemi and Fanta Jatta to bring home a winning score of 8-0.
UW-Oshkosh won five of its six singles contests with Pethan starting the team off with a set score of 6-4, 6-3 to gain the victory against Lamb. Alysa Pattee fell to Vanden Acker with set scores of 4-6, 0-6. Nguyen beat Kane 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles matchup. Gregory overtook Bildsten with set scores of 6-0, 6-0 and Noble beat Angemi with scores of 6-1, 6-1. Lastly, taking home single match No. 6, Gibbs beat Lawrence’s Maddie Bublik with set scores of 6-1,6-0.
The Titans go back into action on Sept. 16, traveling to UW-La Crosse to face the Eagles at 1 p.m. at the Green Island Tennis Park.
