The UW Oshkosh men’s wrestling team spent the weekend in Iowa with a Friday night dual against Cornell College (Iowa), and a Saturday tournament at the University of Dubuque (Iowa).
The Titans fell to the Rams 47-6 Friday, with heavyweight Garth Martell earning a pin to give Oshkosh its only victory in the dual. Cornell took forfeit victories at 125-lbs, 133-lbs, and 184-lbs, racked up four technical falls, one pin and one decision.
After the rough showing in Friday’s dual, the Titans traveled northeast to Dubuque, Iowa, for the Brown Terrell University of Dubuque Invitational. The Titans brought nine wrestlers to the tournament, scoring 15.5 points as a team with eight victories.
At 141-lbs, Brody Toledo won by first period pin over Christian Diaz of Cornell College. Toledo wrestled 141-lb teammate Logan Harel and lost by an 8-7 decision in the consolation bracket.
At 174-lbs, Kyle Rasper won a 13-12 decision over Jermey Olson of Illinois Wesleyan University, and Desmond Walker pinned Carthage College’s Carter Vincent at 197-lbs.
Oshkosh had four victories at 285-lbs, with Camden Harms and Brodie Driessen both competing in the bracket. Harms pinned Kevin Machado of Dubuque and then defeated Noah Carl of Cornell by a 7-1 decision. Driessen pinned Michael Carpenter of Westminster College (Missouri) in his second match and won his third match by injury forfeit.
The UWO will be back in action this Saturday for the WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), hosted by UW-Whitewater at 11 a.m.
