The UW-Oshkosh men’s and women’s track and field teams broke multiple records during their trip to Whitewater for the non-scoring Midwest Elite Invitational on Feb. 14 and 15.
On Friday night, Cameron Cullen led the Titans during the 5,000-meter run, where he placed an impressive 6th out of 126 finishers with a time of 14:28.70.
Gavin Fritsch set UWO’s weight throw record previously held by Pete Delzer with a throw of 20.74 meters. Bryce Hale (18.64 meters), Kieran Maude (17.82 meters), and Isaiah Baez-Isom (17.46 meters) joined him in the top five of the event, giving Oshkosh four of the top finishers.
Isom and Maude continued their strong weekend in the shot put, finishing first and second with throws of 17.13 meters and 15.96 meters, respectively.
Colin Kao broke his own school pole vault record for the fourth time this season, clearing 5.25 meters, the top mark in NCAA Division III this year.
Oshkosh dominated the long jump, claiming three of the top four spots. Joshua Rivers led the way with a leap of 7.42 meters, followed by Caleb Wright (7.05 meters) and Cavan Dobberstein (6.91 meters). Christian Thompson captured the high jump title with a clearance of 2.20 meters.
Vince Nienhuis and Matt Scholbe got the top spots in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.43 and 8.4 seconds, while Lucas Nicholson won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.15.
Amelia Lehman earned a spot at the NCAA Division I Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational after breaking the Titans’ mile record with a fourth-place time of 4:41.03, putting her a half a second off the fastest time in Division III history.
Lehna Mitchell also placed fourth in the mile, finishing in 5:10.16. Addie Baker captured the 400-meter dash title in 58.27 seconds, while Maya Van Schyndel placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.09 seconds.
In the 3,000-meter run, Madeline Osmanski finished fourth in 11:22.02, and Ella Galaszewski placed fifth in 11:36.90.
Oshkosh also dominated the women’s weight throw with four top five finishes, led by Carly Huelskamp’s first-place toss of 16.24 meters.
Oshkosh will host its final indoor meet of the season Saturday, Feb. 21, for the Titan Challenge starting at 10 a.m. in the Kolf Sports Center.
