UW-Oshkosh’s track and field team, led by Gavin Fritsch, combined for four event titles and multiple top ten finishes across the competitions at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on April 3.
Fritsch won two events; he finished in the top spot in the discus with 48.85 meters and a threw a commanding 58.80 meters to secure a win in the hammer throw.
The Titans won two other events: Luke Beeksma ran the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.85, and Jo Hibbler won the high jump at 2.01 meters.
Jett Breed finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.58, Jacob Hite came sixth with a time of 2.00.89, and Zac Watson ran a 2:02.64 to finish seventh. Megan Hoffman did well for the women, finishing the 800 in eighth place with a time of 2:22.90.
Zac Watson came second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an impressive time of 10:40.76. Aaron Nehl and Zachary Dietsch placed fourth and sixth in the 5,000-meter run with times of 15:58.87 and 16:05.58.
In the 4×400-meter relay, Breed, Beeksma, Owen Koele, and Watson took charge for the Titans with a time of 3:30.80, which earned them a second-place finish. Hoffman, Adriana Garcia, Athena Soto, and Evelyn Karls earned the women a seventh-place finish with a relay time of 4:50.42.
Christian Thompson placed fourth in the high jump with 1.91 meters, Christian St. Clair finished sixth in pole vault with 4.70 meters, and Keith Cyracus got 6.58 meters in long jump, earning him fifth place. In the triple jump, Dave Nkwogu and Christian Wallace placed fifth and seventh, respectively, with 13.39 and 13.05 meters.
In the discus, Kieran Maude finished third with 41.10 meters, and Cameron Bendixen was right behind in fourth with 40.68 meters. Ruby Goldstein, Brooklyn Manz, and Alana Noggle placed in the discus, finishing in fourth, fifth, and seventh place with distances of 39.94, 39.25, and 39.28 meters.
In the hammer throw, Bryce Hale got third with 55.94 meters, and Abi Masloroff placed sixth with 46.76 meters. In the shot put, Isaiah Isom and Maude placed fifth and sixth with distances of 15.14 and 14.80 meters. Masloroff and Noggle earned fifth- and seventh-place finishes for the women, with 10.16 meters and 9.89 meters, respectively.
The Titans will host their only home meet of the season on April 10-11, for the UW-Oshkosh Invitational & Multi at the Oshkosh Sports Complex starting at 10 a.m.
