After serving as the top assistant women’s basketball coach in UW-Oshkosh’s run to the Final Four this past season, Cassie Schiltz will be returning to the UW-Green Bay sidelines, the Phoenix announced on May 4.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be returning to the university that gave me so much,” Schiltz said. “This community and program are so special, and I’m so excited to be back.”
Schiltz originally played for UWGB from 2019-2025, and was a two-time Horizon League All-Tournament Team selection in 2022 and 2024. Schiltz is Green Bay’s all-time leader in free throw percentage at 88.9%, alongside being third on the all-time three pointers made list, and second all time in attempts. Across six seasons representing the Phoenix, Schiltz scored 1,314 points, grabbed 611 rebounds, and nabbed 311 assists.
“She had an outstanding career here as a player and understands our program’s tradition and culture at a high level,” UWGB Head Coach Kayla Karius said. “Her strong relationships within the community make her a great addition to our staff, and as an alum, she’ll bring a relatable perspective while passing on her knowledge to the next group of Phoenix players.”
Schiltz was originally hired by UWO in July 2025 to serve under Brad Fischer, who was thrilled to bring her onto the staff lineup.
“Cassie is a proven winner who brings a relentless work ethic, strong basketball IQ, and a high level of character to our program,” Fischer said in 2025. “She had a tremendous playing career at Green Bay and has already gained valuable experience coaching with the Wisconsin Legends club program. I’m confident she will make an immediate impact and is without a doubt a rising star in our profession.”
Being on the sidelines for the Titans this season, Schiltz assisted Fischer as UWO finished 28-4 overall, winning both the WIAC regular season title and hosting an NCAA regional for the program’s third-straight year, as well as being given the the opportunity to host a sectional for the second time in program history and the first since 1994.
In their conquest towards the Final Four, the Titans only committed 9.6 turnovers per game, the lowest mark in the nation regardless of division, while only allowing 47 points per game, the second-lowest average regardless of division.
