A 43-year-old inmate is dead after he experienced a medical emergency during a fight at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution on Jan. 7.
The Oshkosh Police Department said in a press release that they are investigating the death that occurred after a “physical disturbance” between three inmates Wednesday afternoon at 2:58 p.m. Law enforcement said that the man assaulted another inmate before being secured by prison guards and then experienced a “medical emergency.” The Oshkosh Fire Department transported him to a local hospital for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.
OPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate this incident.
