The UW Oshkosh volleyball team not only heard its name be selected in the field for the 2025 NCAA Division lll Volleyball Tournament on Monday, Nov. 17, but it was revealed that the team will be staying home as UWO will be hosting a regional at Kolf Sports Center this weekend (Nov. 20-22).
The Titans clinched a spot after winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday, Nov 15.
UWO will head into the tournament with hopes that it can advance past the success of 2023 and 2024 when the team made back-to-back Elite Eight rounds.
Similar to the 2023 Tournament, UWO will open up the NCAA Tournament with a match against Greenville University (Illinois) on Thursday, Nov. 20. The Panthers are coming into the tournament with a 24-10 record after winning the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Conference Tournament (SLIAC), Greenville is led by junior Abby Grohman who leads the team with 429.5 total points while averaging 3.7 points per set.
If UWO beats Greenville in its opening round, it will face the winner of Edgewood University (25-6) and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minnesota) (23-7). Edgewood will be coming into the tournament as the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference tournament champions and are led by Katie Borchert who leads the team with 438.5 points and 374 kills. The Gusties come into the tournament as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season champions. Gustavus’ leading scorer is Leah Berg who has 362 total points on the season.
The final four teams that will be traveling to Oshkosh to participate in the regional on the other half of the bracket are Washington University in Saint Louis (Missouri) (22-8), College of Saint Benedict (Minnesota) (21-6), the University of Dubuque (Iowa) (25-4) and Cornell College (Iowa) (19-10).
The winner of the Oshkosh Regional will join the other seven regional champions in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Tournament in Bloomington, Illinois, from Dec. 3-5.
