A two-story wood framed home on the 900 block of W. 10th Ave. caught fire Sunday night, leaving a family’s dog presumed to be dead.
The Oshkosh Fire Department was dispatched to the area at 6:45 p.m. for a possible structure fire and found the home with smoke and flames visible on all four sides of the home when crews arrived.
The family was not home at the time of the fire, and their dog is still unaccounted for.
The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage, and Jeff’s on Rugby allowed the occupants to stay there during the emergency and the extreme cold.
According to OFD, the cause of the fire is under investigation, and the department thanked the Town of Algoma Fire Department, the Fox Crossing Fire Department and the Town of Oshkosh Fire Department for providing assistance.
