The UW-Oshkosh women’s basketball team lost 82-61 to the University of Denison (Ohio) in the NCAA Division III Final Four on March 19 in Salem, Virginia.
The Big Red started the game out strong with a commanding 22-7 lead after the first half. Denison continued to dominate the Titans with a 20-point second quarter, making the score at the half 42-19. The Titans would outpace the Big Red in the third quarter by three points, but the Big Red still led 59-39.
The Titans shot 24-for-67 from the field and shot 4-for-17 from behind the arc. The team shot 9-for-11 from the charity stripe. The team also added 32 rebounds in the loss.
The Big Red shot 30-for-60 from the field and 9-for-18 from behind the arc. Denison added 45 total rebounds in its win over the Titans.
The Titans were led by junior guard Sammi Beyer with 13 points shooting 6-for-18 from the field. Senior Mahra Wieman and sophomore Paige Seckar added eight-points apiece. Wieman shot 3-for-8 from the field and Seckar shot 2-for-6 from the field.
The Big Red had five players in double digits. Abby Cooch and Brooke Toigo had 13 points each. Ada Taute followed with 12. Adelyn Moore had 11points and Anelly Mad-toingué had 10 points for Denison.
The Titans end its season for the second straight year after a NCAA Final Four loss. The UWO ends with a 28-4 record for the 2025-26 season.
Denison will be taking on the winner between Scranton (Pennsylvania) and New York University for the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday March 21 at 3 p.m. central time.
