Downtown Gallery Walk Returns

After taking the summer off, Oshkosh Gallery Walks are back.

Every first Saturday of the month, downtown Oshkosh comes to life with art of all kinds. Businesses and galleries along North Main Street open their doors to the community and invite all to enjoy a night of free, art-filled entertainment.

As Oshkosh is home to The Paine Art Center and UW Oshkosh’s Allen Priebe Gallery, it comes as no surprise that the community values and supports its artists. The Gallery Walks work to highlight local and regional artists.

One gallery that gains foot traffic from this event is Jambalaya Arts Inc. As a nonprofit gallery with over 20 years of experience, Jambalaya serves as a venue for Wisconsin artists to display their work. Part of their mission is to remove any obstacles that may prevent an artist from creating new expressions of the human experience. The importance Jambalaya places on supporting local artists mirrors the values of the Oshkosh community. In accordance with those values, the monthly gallery walk draws attention to the numerous artists featured at Jambalaya Arts.

Gallery Walks returned on Sept. 2, but there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy this unique event. The next Gallery Walk is on Oct.  6 from 6-9 p.m.
