The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association named UW-Oshkosh students from Titan TV and 90.3 WRST-FM winners in 12 different categories at the WBA Student Forum at Lambeau Field on Feb. 28.
UWO students took home the Student Leadership Award and collected two scholarships.
Dylan Przybylski was honored with the Student Leadership Award, while Makenna Thompson received the Morgan Murphy Media Scholarship and Annelise Dahnke received the David L. Nelson Scholarship.
“I feel very honored to receive this award,” Thompson said. “I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved with Titan TV and am grateful to be recognized in front of all my family and friends who have supported me during my time at UWO.”
WRST took first place in four different categories. Those categories were General News Story for “Singh Selected” by Jacob Link, Sports Play-by-Play for the NCAA Division III women’s volleyball championship by Justice Cyr and Brayden Junkers, Best Sports Show for the NCAA D-III women’s volleyball championship pregame show by Cyr, Link and Junkers as well as Sports Story for “Week in Review Sports Recap” by Dylan Eckhart.
Alongside the four first place finishes, WRST took home a second place award in Sports Story for an NCAA D-III women’s volleyball preview by Link as well as two third place awards in air check for “Garage Tunes” by Vincent Glatczak and Sports Play-by-Play for UWO vs. Smith College by Link and Eckhart.
UWO’s campus TV station, Titan TV, took two first place finishes in two categories. Those were Episodic Entertainment for “Track Attack” by Przybylski, Evan Berger and Grant Burg and Sports Story for a story on the UWO baseball team by Ben Colombe.
“This award represents a culmination of hours of hard work pre-producing this show every week that really makes this award so meaningful,” Berger said.
Burg said he felt the same.
“Working on this show all semester with two of my closest friends and to bring home the first place award makes it feel that much more special,” Burg said.
Titan TV also took home a second place award in Promo for Titan TV show “Ill-Fated” by Cameron Reese.
The WBA turns 75 this year and is celebrating with an Awards Gala in the Madison Marriott West on May 2.
