The UW Oshkosh Police Department responded to a reported bomb threat at North Scott Hall Oct. 16.
According to an email sent to residents, UW Oshkosh Chief of Police Chris Tarmann and Hall Director Sarah Gresley said that shortly after noon on Wednesday, Oct. 16, police received a report of a “potentially threatening social media post on YikYak.” Multiple UWOPD officers as well as a K-9 unit from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded and evacuated the building while investigating the threat.
Tarmann also said in the email that because of the timely notification, police were able to immediately respond and ultimately deem the reported threat as not credible to the hall or university community.
“(The) UWO Police Department regularly receives tips from our community members, and we take all information seriously,” Tarmann said. “(The police department) appreciate(s) residents’ cooperation as we investigated.”
